As we move forward and learn to live with Covid, our Optometrists and other practice staff will continue to maintain comprehensive infection prevention and control procedures, including wearing the appropriate PPE, to keep patients and practice staff safe as restrictions ease across the UK. We are also asking patients (unless medically exempt) to continue wearing facial coverings whilst in the practice to ensure that we are taking steps to protect each other from COVID-19.
The College of Optometrists have updated their Amber phase COVID-19 guidance to help practices across the UK deliver eye care safely and effectively at this stage of the pandemic recovery. Guidance now states that “practices should continue to remain open for routine services while prioritising patients on a needs and symptoms-led basis.”
As we begin to work through our list of overdue patients, we are also receiving an unprecedented demand for our services from local GP’s and hospital services, therefore you may find that there is a slightly longer waiting time for your appointment than previously. In order to try and accommodate more patients, we have extended our opening hours. We are now open Monday to Friday between 08:15 and 18:00 and on Saturdays between 08:15 and 15:00.
